We made a quick trip to see Scott at Brass Coffee Sound not long ago. Among all the studio gear was this recent Gretsch Country Gentleman. A lot of players will immediately pull the pickups on these and put in TV Jones rather than the stock Filtertrons, which is generally a good move. On the…

Doner Designs NASA Guitar Signed by James Lovell
Doner Designs stopped by out facebook page recently to share an awsome little project they’d been working on and a quick look over their site turned up some pretty amazing stuff, including this NASA guitar signed by James Lovell himself. Think you’re panicked when your onstage and forget the next riff? He commanded Apollo 13.…
Warwick Fortress Masterman and Guild B203
Here’s a great little pair from @adebassma5. A German built Warwick Fortress Masterman 5. Finished to order in ’99 and ready to roll for the new millenium (love those 2 piece bridges from the really good Warwicks). Plus a ’78 or ’79 Guild 302 for those who like warmth in a bass tone. Ade says…
Tempest by Palm Bay Guitars, Shredder Much?
You don’t really hear much about British company Palm Bay Guitars on the American side of the ocean. It’s a pity. The Tempest has certainly gotten out attention. I can’t imaging picking up one of these and not feeling driven to play absolutely as fast as possible. This just screams metal shredding.
Steampunk Guitar from Emerald Guitars
Just about everything Emerald Guitars makes looks absolutely bat-guano crazy. In THE BEST way! I mean, if you were going to use a guitar to try and summon the spirit of Ronnie James Dio, it would have to be one of their dragon wrapped axes. Lets forgo that for the moment to look over this…
The Fall of the Banjo and Rise of the Guitar
Don’t Mumford me on this. I realize there are plenty of banjo players out there today. It’s an incredibly fun instrument to play that makes a pretty good racket even without an amp. That being said, its popularity is nowhere near what it once was. With that in mind, let’s look at the fall of…
Little 60s Pine Amp
I found this little 60s tube amp in a shop called Songbird Music that used to be in Toronto. It used to be a good place to find weird, second hand cast-offs. When I asked about it the sales guy looked at it blankly for a minute then told me it was made by a…
Djembe With No Name
I was digging through the percussion of a local music store a long time ago when I spotted this drum. Pretty much everything was made by the companies you’d expect – Remo, LP – except this. The terra cotta body really gets a ringing sound. The metal darbukas didn’t have nearly the ring of this…
Early 2000’s Warwick Streamer
Something about this finish Warwick Streamer fretless from the German-built era. The pickups are a little muddy but I’ve read some people have had a lot of success clearing that up by switching out the pots. It’s great if you like a really dark sound though. Plus I’ve always liked the moodiness of the finish.
Welcome to Guitar-Porn.com
We’ve all surfed guitar-porn when we should have been working. Eyeing the salacious curves of a strange body, imagining tracing the delicate inlays of exotic instruments with our fingertips… then madly trying to close an unresponsive browser when coworkers pass. Don’t be ashamed. Everybody’s been there. It’s perfectly natural to want a new axe for…
